He is one of the most frequently occurring characters in the franchise, appearing in almost all of its different continuities. Starscream is generally depicted as the second-in-command of the Decepticon leader Megatron who transforms into a jet fighter and leads the Seekers, a group of Decepticons who share his body type. Across most continuities, Starscream's defining trait is his desire to overthrow Megatron and assume command of the Decepticons. This is usually out of greed and selfishness, though in some continuities, Starscream has been shown to genuinely care about the Decepticon cause and wish to bring it back on the right path, perceiving Megatron as a corrupt leader who led the Decepticons astray. Alternatively, other incarnations of Starscream have been portrayed as unquestionably loyal to Megatron or as an antihero who has tried (and sometimes even succeeded) to make peace with the Decepticons' arch-enemies, the Autobots.
PERSONALITY - G1, IDW, WFC(Trilogy), & Earthspark
Generation One (G1) - Starscream has the ambition to overthrow Megatron as the Decepticons' leader. He has gained the control he craves on several occasions, but he eventually suffers defeat. Starscream is ruthless, cruel, bloodthirsty, and more intelligent than the average Decepticon, but also, unlikely to act directly on these aspirations without first securing conditions favorable to his ascension. He considers himself vastly superior to other Decepticons and finds Megatron contemptible for his antiquated military strategies and tactics.
Starscream believes the Decepticons should employ guile and speed more readily than brute force to defeat the Autobots. However, given the chance to lead, he is often less successful in this than Megatron. While Megatron frequently overlooks him as a threat, authors suggest such reasons for Megatron's tolerance of Starscream's presence as a grudging respect for his scheming nature and precautionary observation. Others suggest that Starscream's treacherous nature is welcomed; that without a threat to his command, Megatron believes he would become soft and overconfident, or that he even found his transgressions amusing. Even so, Starscream often quickly exhausts Megatron's patience; violent-yet-brief verbal and/or physical conflicts between the two are not uncommon. As such, there have been times when Megatron has been close to killing Starscream.IDW - Starscream is one of the main antagonists of IDW Publishing's Transformers series. He was a major antagonist of phase 1, a secondary antagonist of Robots in Disguise and the main antagonist of Windblade/Till All Are One. Unlike other versions of the character, IDW Starscream is loyal, brave and sympathic who only wants to overthrow Megatron due to believing that the Decepticon leader is insane.War For Cybertron Trilogy - Starscream is very arrogant, swagger, deceitful, sometime coward and ready to use any deception to achieve his ends. Like many of his past incarnations, he covets the top, first the command of the Seekers then the title of leader of the Decepticons or even king.
Apart from Megatron, Starscream fears no one, as he did not hesitate to threaten to kill Jetfire if he had been the commander at the time and preferring to also execute the looters than just the Autobots. He also turns out to be manipulative enough to push his allies to rally to him instead of Megatron, at least until his tentaves all fail.
Ironically, Starscream can prove to be paranoid and a bad teammate, overtaking Blackarachnia when he's suspicious of her and quickly arguing with Dinobot for making fun of his supposed fate.
Since meeting Unicron, Starscream has started to act more troubled and to the point of choosing to side with his enemies while letting go of his dreams of greatness. He also no longer feared Megatron and first tried to prevent him from carrying out Unicron's plans and then later tried to convince him to turn away from Galvatron's path.Earthspark ( Main Roleplay / Current ) - Starscream was once a high-ranking member and commander of the Decepticons and Decepticon and Seeker Air and Sky Commander and Leader. Despite the many years that have passed since the end of the war, he remains just as devious as ever—and every bit as dangerous.
